I don't have copies off all the things :s

can not open files copied from XP
You may need to take ownership of the files while logged in as Administrator. I havent fooled enough with Vista to see the following instructions differ from other windows versions, but right click on the folder you are being denied access to, and select Properties, click the Security tab and then click the Advanced button. Go to the Owner tab select Administrator and check the box and take ownership. Then grant all users Full Control.

note: I am loged in on the 1 and only (administrator) account on my pc.

in the device manager enable the Administrator account (Please give a password to the account :)), go into the local security policy (start => run => secpol.msc) under local policies => security Options => interactive logon: do not display last user logon. this will let you choose what use to logon with, logon as the administrator and try taking ownership of the files.
